iris van herpen: 3D textiles
A collaboration between architect, Philip Beesley, and fashion designer, Iris Van Herpen, these studies in 3D mesh-works are an effort to create softness and flexibility in digitally-fabricated, and geometrically complex fabrics made of synthetic materials. This paradigm of making transforms early studies in 3D textiles—often rigid and brittle—into movable and wearable fabrics, making it feasible to translate haute-couture runway pieces into ready-to-wear lines.
